On the renaming of the airport after President Tinubu, just less than a year after it was named after Dr Imam, Governor Bago said, “It is in appreciation of the president, for approving Niger State as the first special Airport Agro-Processing Free Zone in Nigeria and his immense contributions to nation building’’. The governor further said, “The state government under my leadership has been enjoying tremendous support from the Tinubu-led government and the president is an astute politician and a great leader that should be celebrated’’.

Many feared dead in Plateau communal dispute

Many people have been reported killed and property destroyed in a dispute over land in Ponglong in Lalin district of Mikang Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Locals said the violence began on Saturday night and continued until Sunday morning before security agents restored order.

The chairperson of the transition committee of Mikang LGA, Daniel Kunmi, confirmed the incident to journalists in Jos on Sunday.

The four men suspected of carrying out the attack were arrested near Russia’s border with Ukraine, Russian authorities said. Putin said they had planned to cross into Ukraine – Kyiv has denied any link with the attack and warned Russia could use it as an excuse to escalate its invasion.

Amid fears of more attacks, security has been tightened at key transport hubs across Russia. Public concerts and sporting events have been postponed.

This is hardly the stability and security for which so many Russians voted for President Putin.
